Ode to colour

bouncing blue greets the upturned eye
citrus orange twist climbing high
daffodils dancing on the breeze
ruffling leaves of greenest trees

a verandah, lavish in purest white
olive skin, kissed by much sunlight
turquoise patches in a lazy sea
violets in velvet are singing with glee

ready for rain, brown earth sighs…
charcoal smudge across the skies
glowing red ember of a sinking sun
scarlet streak commends  job well done

blackness of night in stealthy fingers
silvery silent, the doleful moon lingers
