Sunday Encounters

You amaze me.
I bring nothing
and leave with more
than I can carry…
so it spills over
along the sidewalks
into tissues, into smiles…

You overwhelm me.
I am nobody
yet You
meet me –
You whisper my name!
Your caress is so sweet
that I long to remain…

You deafen me.
I kneel in awe,
pour out my silence,
and listen
to Yours…
All else is confusion –
a noisy clamour for more.

You subdue me.
I contemplate ashes
but You
raise my eyes
to Your throne!
And as I surrender my desires,
You give me more than before!
